Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

2. How we use it

We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Service — including storing your projects and tool data, generating AI responses, processing payments, and providing customer support. Once you confirm your email address, we send you a short series of tips emails over your first few weeks, and later we may send one email asking for a review. Every one of these has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing doesn't affect emails you need, like sign-in codes, password resets and receipts. If you keep deadlines in the Deadline Calendar (on Basic and up), we email you a week before and the day before each deadline that has its reminder on, at most one email a day; you can turn these off in the calendar or from the link in any reminder. If you share a business plan by link, anyone who has the link can see that plan, numbers included, until you turn the link off; shared plans aren't listed anywhere or shown to search engines. If you joined an organization's group plan, the organization may be told how many of its seats are in use, but not what you do in the app. We do not sell your personal information. Apart from the ad measurement described in section 6, we don't share it with advertisers, and we never share your account details, what you type into the app, or your AI conversations with them.

3. AI processing

When you use the AI advisor, including free tries before you make an account, your messages are sent to an AI provider to generate a response:

When you write a business plan, what it's written from is sent to Anthropic's Claude so it can write the plan: your project's checklist, budget, calculator numbers, SWOT, notebook and recent conversation with the AI advisor, and the cover details you enter. The plan it writes is saved in your account.

When you use "Add from a photo" in the Budget Tracker, the photo you choose is sent to Anthropic so the budget items in it can be read. Each provider processes this data according to its own privacy policy and terms, available at deepinfra.com and anthropic.com. We send only your conversation with the AI advisor (including any web page you share from the Chrome extension, and for a task in the extension's "Act" mode, the task, the steps so far and the page it's working on) any photos you choose to import, and what a business plan is written from — never your billing information or account password.

4. Data storage and security

Your account data is stored in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase, protected by row-level security so that you can only access your own data — enforced at the database level, not just through the app's interface. If you choose "Continue with Google," Google confirms who you are and shares your name, email address, profile picture and an ID for your Google account with us; we never see your Google password. We use them only for your account, as we would for an email sign-up (the picture isn't shown anywhere), and Google handles the sign-in under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe; this site does not store raw card numbers. Emails from Launching Desk — sign-up codes, password resets, the tips and review emails, deadline reminders, and the copies of feedback and applications we receive — are sent through Resend, according to its privacy policy at resend.com. We use industry-standard measures to help protect your data, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

5. Your rights

You can delete your account yourself at any time: in the app, open Account in the sidebar and choose Delete your account. This permanently deletes your account and everything in it — projects, tool data, notes, deadlines, business plans (which turns off their share links), AI conversations, and any feedback you sent — and cancels any active subscription so you aren't charged again. Any extra credits you bought and haven't used, and any business plan you bought for a project, are removed with it; we keep the record of each purchase for our accounts, without your name or email. Stripe keeps the payment records it's required to keep by law.

You can also exercise any of the following by contacting us at launchingdeskapp@outlook.com:

6. Cookies, visit counts and ad measurement

Apart from the Meta Pixel described below, Launching Desk does not use analytics or advertising cookies.

To see how people find the site, we count page views. Each time you open a page, we record only:

Nothing is stored on your device for this, and we don't record your IP address, your account or any other identifier, so these counts can't be linked to you or to each other. Reloading a page isn't counted again. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, your visits aren't counted at all. The counts are kept in the same database as the rest of the Service and are only visible to us as totals.

Ad measurement (Meta Pixel). To see whether our Facebook and Instagram ads work, pages on this site load the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms, Inc. It sets a cookie (named _fbp) and tells Meta which pages you open here, and when you create an account (a guest account included), add an email to a guest account, start checkout, or buy a plan, extra credits or a business plan (with the price), along with technical details Meta collects itself, such as your IP address and browser. Meta may connect this with your Facebook or Instagram account and uses it under its own Privacy Policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy), including to measure and improve ads. We've turned off Meta's automatic reading of buttons and forms, so it doesn't receive your email, your password or anything you type into the app. The pixel doesn't load at all if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, for visitors in Europe, or on the unsubscribe, password reset and shared business plan pages. You can also limit ads based on your activity in the Ad preferences of your Meta account.

Free tries. If you ask the AI advisor something before making an account, your browser keeps a random ID and how many free answers you have left today (in its local storage), and the chat so far in that tab, so a reload doesn't lose it; if you then create an account, the chat is saved to it. To allow two free answers a day per device and a few per internet connection, our server counts them by that ID and by your IP address, but doesn't store either one: the counts are kept under codes scrambled from them with the date and a secret key (a keyed hash), which don't show the ID or the address and change every day, and they're deleted after about two days. We don't keep the questions or answers from free tries on our servers. Separately, as with any website, the companies that host the Service briefly keep records of the requests they handle, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Links from affiliates and organizations. If you arrive through an affiliate's link (one ending in ?ref=) or an organization's member link (?group=), your browser keeps that link's short code for up to 60 days (30 for member links), so the affiliate can be credited if you subscribe, or so you can join your organization's plan once you've signed up. Affiliates aren't told who you are.

Staying logged in relies on a session token managed by Supabase, which is necessary for the Service to function and is not used to track you. For a guest account, that token, kept in your browser's storage, is the only way to open the account until you add an email.

7. The Launching Desk extension for Chrome

The optional Launching Desk extension for Chrome lets you ask the AI advisor about the web page you're looking at.

You can take back access to a site you've allowed (including access to all sites, if you gave it for "Act") from the extension's account menu ("Sites you've allowed") or on Chrome's Extensions page.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post a notice on the Service or email the address associated with your account before the changes take effect.
